"respects marriage and other lasting relations among adults as religious, cultural, or social practices, but rejects marriage as a way to gain financial benefits or social status."
First of all, in such a system it should be practically impossible (if not difficult) to acquire any kind of financial benefit besides working effort/output.
Second, if some people decide that gaining social status via marriage is something they'd like to pursuit, why should we object? How does it affect/effect the community that someone marries someone famous or important to gain social status?
If you feel I'm wrong please enlighten me...
